Krishnakalachelvi, Member of Parliament for Nuwara Eliya District, said that two years have passed since the National People’s Power Government came into office, and the members of the opposition party are raising the question of what the government has done during this period.
In response to this, she pointed out the current situation in the country and some of the programs being undertaken by the government.
A meeting of the National People’s Power was held on the 27th in Diagama area. She mentioned these things while participating in it and commenting to the media.
According to Krishnakalachelvi, the government believes that Sri Lanka, which was hit hard by the economic crisis in the past, is now back on the path of development. He mentioned that Sri Lanka went into recession in September 2021 and said that Sri Lanka has now advanced to the fourth place in the list of developing countries.

Krishnakalachelvi also said that the government is working towards fulfilling the promise given to the people to make the country a prosperous country.
She has criticized political power in the past as a way to misuse people’s money. She also said that the National People’s Power has promised that legal action will be taken against whoever misused the tax money and labor of the people.
She also mentioned that it is the stand of the government that action should be taken if government funds are misused not only by politicians but also by common people or government officials.
Programs to solve people’s problems
Krishnakalachelvi said that the work being carried out by the government is not limited to the major city areas like Colombo and various projects are being carried out in the up country areas as well.
She also said that through the activities carried out in Thalawakalai and Norwood Divisional Secretariat areas, the people of the highlands have now started to understand the activities of the government.
She also said that since the various problems faced by the people cannot be solved at once, the development work is being carried out in phases.
She mentioned that steps are being taken to bring about changes in the transport sector as well. In particular, she pointed out that the Colombo Central Bus Station has been reconstructed and the metro bus service is being developed.
She also said that the Ministry of Transport is taking steps to bring changes according to the transport needs of the country.
Development works and new activities for up country people
She said that programs to improve the quality of life of the up country people are also being implemented gradually. Her comments also highlight the need to continue efforts to address various social and economic problems that have been prevailing for a long time in the up country areas.
While the ruling party and the opposition party are presenting different views on the government’s two-year performance, Krishnakalachelvi has presented the developmental activities and administrative changes allegedly undertaken by the government.
