Direct flight service between Trichy and Jaffna has resumed. After several months of suspension, the service has been reactivated from October 1. India’s IndiGo Airlines is leading this service.

A direct flight from Trichy Airport to Jaffna is considered important for travelers from the Northern Province. Now that the service has resumed, direct flights between the two regions are back. A total of 89 passengers traveled in both directions on the first day itself. According to reports, 44 people were traveling in the flight from Trichy to Jaffna and 45 people were traveling in the flight from Jaffna to Trichy.

At present Trichy – Jaffna direct flight service operates three days a week. These flights are operated on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

As per the announced schedule, the flight departs from Trichy Airport at 1.05 PM and reaches Jaffna at 1.50 PM. It is reported that the flight will depart from Jaffna at 2.35 pm in the opposite direction and reach Trichy airport at 3.25 pm.

A key feature of this service is that the flight time is less. According to information, it takes only about 45 to 50 minutes to reach Jaffna from Trichy. This allows us to reach Jaffna directly, avoiding long land journeys or traveling through other airports.

Trichy Airport is also connected to many parts of Tamil Nadu by road and rail. Therefore, this direct flight route to Jaffna provides an additional travel opportunity for the residents of Trichy’s surrounding areas.
